    Monongahela River
    Sometimes referred to as the Mon, the Monongahela River flows from West Virginia into western Pennsylavania. The headwaters of the Mon are at the confluence of the Tygart and West Fork rivers at Fairmont, West Virginia. The river joins with the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to form the Ohio River.

    A tributary of the Ohio River, the Allegheny River, also known as the Allegany River in New York, starts near Colesburg, Pennsylvania, curls north through New York state and then back into Pennsylvania.
