With a series of displays and artifacts, Fort Pitt Museum teaches visitors about the French and Indian War, the American Revolution and early military tactics. Located at the Point State Park, the museum is housed in a re-created version of the Monongahela Bastion, a fortress built in the mid-18th century. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 5pm.

The center first opened in 1996 and is located in the old Chautauqua Lake Ice Company building. In total, over 160,000 square feet of space is located in the museum. The museum features a children's Discovery Palace, Historical Society Library and Archives. The offices of the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania are located in the building.

The museum features contemporary art. Established in 1977, the museum is located on the famous Mexican War Streets. Featured exhibitions include work from Patrice Carre, Robin Minard and Takehisa Kosugi. Group tours can be accommodated for up to 60 people.

James Kelso Bible Lands Museum was established in 1908 and contains ancient artifacts collected from excavations. Ranging in time from the prehistoric times until the Middle Ages, the pieces include pottery, bones and ancient textiles, baskets and leathers. The museum can be visited Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 7pm, Wednesday through Friday from 10am to 4pm or by appointment. During March, the museum is also open on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.

Found in the Heinz History Center, the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum takes up two floors, taking visitors in depth through Pittsburgh's sports heritage. Inside are hundreds of artifacts, displays of stories and legends, hands-on exhibits and multi-media areas, as well as a Wall of Fame.

Located on six-acres, the center features the home of Henry Clay Frick. The home was restored. Also reconstructed was the Alden and Harlow Greenhouse, which dates back to 1897. The visitor center was formely the bowling alley in the home. Both the Car and Carriage Museum and Frick Art Museum are located in the center.

Located next door to the Frick Art and Historical Center, the Car and Carriage Museum contains more than 20 vintage machines, taking visitors through the history of automobiles. The collection includes Henry Clay Frick's 1914 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, with the oldest exhibit featuring an 1881 Brougham car. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
